New MS security updates yesterday, get yourself patched. Windows Update was a little pokey this morning, but that’s almost to be expected.

On an unrelated note, I got to drive the wife’s Camaro Z/28 to Danville last night. Driving the 97 Accord four banger (peppy, but front wheel drive and geared a little odd) and the Dakota v-8 (uh, it’s a 4×4, no speed demon here) all the time, I sometimes forget how much fun interstate on/off ramps really CAN be. Made for a pretty good birthday present.

So, I did a bunch of odds and ends for family members today:

  • Move a bunch of HEAVY antique sewing machines
  • Hook up grandpa’s computer
  • Fix DirectTV receiver
  • Reinstall seats in grandparents minivan
  • Vacuum out my truck
  • Rotate the front tires on the JD 4400

Now, I’m beat. Time to go play a game of poker, drive home and sleep in to regain the hour of sleep lost to the silly time change.

how to fix vcron/vixie-cron issues

gentoo decided to rename the package for vixie cron from vcron to vixie-cron. If you had this happen in the middle of a bunch of upgrades, you missed the info on how to fix it. So I don’t lose this link again:

emerge unmerge vcron
emerge vixie-cron
rm /etc/init.d/vcron
depscan.sh
rc-update del vcron
rc-update del vixie-cron
rc-update add vixie-cron default
