Ya that looks nice. I acctually looked for an article for migrating hardware and didn’t find what I was looking for.
As far as this method I think that it still might cause problems. I don’t think netdom finds every instance of the old name on the server. I had to go into the registry and make changes by hand.
I am thinking that I will follow most of the steps except for renaming the new server to the old name. I think that I will build the new system to the old name after I have already renamed the old server. Yes it will take longer but I think it will cause less problems.
My big problems was nto doing this step: Look at the DNS to see if all records pointing to the old DC have been removed

One thing that I’ve done the 2 times I’ve moved FSMO roles: Wait at least 12 hours before doing anything else that might upset the mess.
